- Supporting a university spin-out up to exit to a major multinational organisation in the medical device sector for technology relating to patient monitoring, including international patent strategy, patent portfolio management and patent due diligence.
- Successfully defending opposition of a patent directed to secure banking technology at the European Patent Office.
- Advising a technology owner in respect of a joint venture to develop its railway carriage monitoring system by achieving interoperability with a third party’s management system for train SMART coaches. This included advising on the commercial arrangements to be put in place to manage risk, future supplies and to include licensing the technology and data flows. As the SMART coaches were to be supplied to a national railway company, care was also taken around the provision of software and the real time communication and monitoring of the data transmissions.
- Acting for Harman Technology Limited in IPEC action against Ilford Imaging (Europe) GmbH (the new owner of the key “Ilford” photographic related trade mark who purchased it from the liquidator of the Swiss company which had granted a licence (expressed to be irrevocable) to Harman) for injunctive and declaratory relief to preserve Harman’s ability to exploit the Ilford brand.
- Advising Savii Inc (an American business involved in software for the care services sector) on the protection of their core brands in the UK market, and have filed several trade marks in the UK to protect those brands.
