Planning for housebuilders
Our regional planning teams advise on all areas of planning and environmental law, including site promotion and contaminated land.
We deal with both contentious matters (appeals, call-ins, judicial review, statutory challenge) and non-contentious matters (advice on law, strategy and planning policy, planning agreements) and work closely with in-house planners at many of the volume housebuilders.
We have planning teams in four of our offices: Guildford, Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester – this gives us the strength in depth to meet demanding timescales to release planning permission, and to have expertise rapidly available to support housebuilder clients at every stage from acquisition, through to disposal of a part-exchanged property with planning issues.
Given our residential development specialism at Gateley, we know that residential planning is a particular type of planning that requires expert knowledge and experience of handling planning authorities. All our planning lawyers are housebuilder specialists – be it at local plan or planning application level, advising on planning conditions, Section 73 and 96A applications, or structuring complex Section 106 agreements including provision for cash payments in lieu of on-site affordable housing. We are also experts in enforcement matters and can help you if a planning authority serves an enforcement, breach of condition or stop notice on you.
