With thousands of entries on the Heritage at Risk Register, there are too many buildings across the UK that are at risk of neglect, decay or inappropriate development. However, whilst there are more sites added every month, there are hundreds of sites that are rescued and their futures secured each year too.
What do we do?
At Gateley Smithers Purslow, we have a specialist team dedicated to heritage and the conservation of the built environment. These buildings define who we are and our history and, given our capability and expertise, we see it as our duty to work with communities and other specialists to preserve their place in society.
With a wealth of experience in this specialist field, our architecture, surveying and engineering teams have provided design and repair solutions to listed or heritage buildings for many years.
Our conservation architects and surveyors are specialists in heritage conversation, qualified under the relevant AABC, RIBA and RICS Accreditation Schemes under heritage conservation.
Our specialist heritage and conservation services include:
- heritage impact assessments
- listed building consent applications
- historical research and archive building records
- conservation management plans
- assessments of significance
- assistance with grant funding from Historic England and the National Lottery
- consultation with local authorities.
Who do we help?
We act directly for a range of clients including local authorities and developers, either solely as conservation architect, engineer or surveyor, or as a multi-disciplinary team. We also regularly act for and alongside other lead architects on projects in our capacity as conservation architect.
