Dr. Ian Zhu is a professional advisor in China-UK and China-Europe trade and investment, with over 20 years of hands-on cross-border experience. He possesses deep insights into the systemic integration and practical implementation across trade, industry, capital, and legal frameworks. His career can be divided into three main phases: the first decade focused on product trade and manufacturing exports; the second on primary market investment and secondary market cap management; and the most recent years have concentrated on corporate restructuring, cross-border dispute resolution, and risk management under common law legal systems.
Dr. Zhu is a registered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) in the UK and holds qualifications as a professional investment and wealth advisor. He earned a PhD in Finance from the University of Surrey and an M.Sc. with distinction in Accounting and Finance from the University of Leeds.
Dr. Zhu has been frequently invited to deliver lectures and trainings to UK government bodies, business associations, and universities to foster mutual trust and cooperation between China and the UK. He once served as the sole lecturer for a specialised training attended by 200 UK government officials. He has spoken for institutions such as the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK (CCCUK), China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), Barclays Bank, TUS Holdings, CCB University, University of Cambridge, University of Warwick, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
