Chris has many years of experience as a building surveyor with expertise predominantly on high street retail fit outs and residential refurbishments, working with local authorities, housing associations, betting and charity shops. Chris has also delivered conversion projects from £25,000 up to in the region of £1.8m.

Chris’s current role with Gateley Smithers Purslow has seen him working on numerous fire, flood and impact damage insurance claims since 2019, assisting insurers, adjusters and assessors on major loss claims, with technical advice as well as cost and scope validations across the South of England to a range of domestic and commercial property.

How do you help clients?

I help both insurers achieve successful completion of insurance claims, and policyholders get on with their lives after the trauma of a fire, flood or impact damage to their property.

Through project management, I assist and push progression of various elements of a claim by overseeing contractors and their works to a high standard, whilst supporting all key stakeholders in decision making, advice and good communication.

1. Acting as lead surveyor contact on insurance claims to guide on process, cost forecasting, expectations and programme.
2. Advising key stakeholders on property acquisitions and development from inception to completion.
3. Providing defects diagnosis reporting, party wall administration and acquiring statutory consents.
