We’re pleased to have been a part of the working group advising Oxfordshire County Council on the major £322m Housing Infrastructure Fund 1 (HIF1) Scheme for Didcot and the surrounding areas, which has now had the compulsory purchase and side road orders granted by the Secretary of State for Transport.

The project will transform travel links, reduce congestion and enhance connectivity in the region with works including the widening of the A4130, a new ‘Didcot Science Bridge’, a Didcot to Culham River Crossing and a Clifton Hampden bypass.

The significant infrastructure changes are set to create reliable journey times for buses and other vehicles, improve pedestrian and cycling connectivity, reduce congestion in the surrounding villages and improve air quality and noise levels.

Our project team, made up of senior associate Steve Moon, associate Rachel Holland, side roads order consultant Julie Hume, principal surveyor Reena Shah and surveyor Sam Staines, advised on the compulsory purchase, side road order and bridge scheme elements as part of the working party supporting Oxfordshire County Council.

Jessica Bere, technical director at Gateley Hamer, said: “We have been part of the working party supporting Oxfordshire County Council for a number of years now and it’s great to see this major scheme finally receive the green light. It will bring many benefits to the road users of Didcot and the surrounding areas and play a vital part in supporting the country’s housing and infrastructure system. We congratulate the project team who have worked tirelessly towards the success of this project.”
