We advised on the new sports pavilion at Birkdale School which is intended for use by school pupils and out of hours by a local sports club.
Careful and sensitive design was required as the site is in green belt and adjacent to an area of outstanding natural beauty. Further design considerations were to reduce the risk of vandalism due to the exposed site and have changing facilities that would meet the requirements of Sport England.
The facilities include: 10 changing rooms; 2 first aid rooms; storerooms; kitchen; and seminar room/ hospitality suite. There is also a tiered balcony that overlooks the sports pitches.
