We have announced the promotions of three of our team in Reading as we celebrate our 10th year of operating in the town.

Corporate lawyers Ian McDonald and Laurel Knight have both been promoted to legal director, having advised businesses on many different corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions for corporate acquirers, acting for private equity houses on investments, advising owner managers on sales of their companies, and reorganisations and other aspects of corporate advice.

In addition, Alistair Haggis has been promoted to the role of senior building surveyor for Gateley Smithers Purslow, the multi-disciplinary surveying, engineering and architecture consultancy arm of Gateley. Alistair has been involved in major and complex loss insurance reinstatement projects and is part of a fast-growing team of surveyors providing contract administration, Party Wall advice, building defect reports, and general advisory services across the South East.

Based in the heart of the Thames Valley region, Gateley employs more than 40 legal professionals in its Reading office and is led by corporate partner Andrew Peddie.

Speaking about the promotions, Andrew said: “Congratulations to Ian, Laurel and Ali on their richly deserved promotions. Each of them has delivered exceptional results for us in the past years and ensured we continue to exceed our clients’ expectations. Our people are incredibly important to us, so it gives us great pride to be able to reward them in this way and continue to support the progression of their careers with Gateley.

“These promotions are also a fantastic way to celebrate our tenth year in Reading, given they are the result of consistent growth. What started as a base with just two employees a decade ago is now a thriving office of more than 40 people, offering a diverse range of services across a range of sectors thanks to the addition of our consultancy businesses.”

These promotions are part of 73 announced by Gateley nationwide this year, with nine made up to partner in total.
