National law firm Gateley Plc aims to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes by taking part in a 350 mile cycle challenge across the country.
Entitled ‘Tour de Gateley’, the ride will see Gateley Plc office teams and a selection of its clients and professional contacts cycle to every Gateley office in England.
The challenge will take place over five days, commencing in London on 26 June and ending in Leeds on 30 June, visiting the Reading, Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham and Manchester offices in between.
A small core team of riders will complete the full distance of over 350 miles.
The team includes: Emlyn Hudson and Patrick Kennedy from Manchester, David Lloyd-Jones and Mark Wilson from Birmingham, Brendan McGeever from London, Mark Metcalfe from Reading, Pauline Munro and George Parker-Fuller from Leeds, and Nigel Payne, chairman of Gateley Plc.
Additional cyclists will join on a daily basis to ride their local route, covering 70 miles on average. This includes 45 staff members, as well as more than 40 clients and contacts. The riders will be departing from each location daily at 9.30am and finishing around 5.30pm, where they will be welcomed by Gateley staff for rest and refreshments.
The money raised from the sponsorships of each team member will go towards supporting those with injuries and illnesses sustained while serving in the British Armed Forces, through Help for Heroes.
Emlyn Hudson, Construction partner, commented: “It’s incredibly important to support our wounded soldiers, sailors and airmen, as well as their families, once they return from combat zones. Help for Heroes provides such an important and worthwhile service, which I know strikes a chord with many of us at Gateley. We’re delighted therefore, to support the charity as we take on Tour de Gateley in June.
“Preparations are starting to ramp up across our office network – and with our clients and contacts that are taking part – as people prepare to both ride and cheer on the cyclists. I’d like to thank everyone that has shown such great enthusiasm for this venture; their engagement and support has been incredible so far. We can’t wait to get started!”
