National law firm, Gateley Plc has been shortlisted for ‘Law Firm of the Year’ at the upcoming City A.M awards.
The City A.M. awards, now in their seventh year, celebrate high achieving businesses in the fintech, law, accountancy, banking, insurance, retail and property sectors.
The award nomination highlights the national strength of Gateley, whose corporate team was ranked first for deal volume in the Experian Corpfin M&A Advisor League Table for the first half of 2016. The team had been ranked top for the first quarter in 2016 and managed to maintain their position for the half-year thanks to their involvement in 64 deals.
Michael Ward, Gateley CEO, said: “The Gateley brand has become synonymous with deal making and it’s great that our work has been recognised by this shortlisting.”
The firm became the first UK law firm to go public last year and has now been shortlisted alongside Magic circle firms, Allen & Overy and Clifford Chance, as well as CMS and Herbert Smith Freehills.
City A.M. highlight Gateley’s strong performance in the market, with the firm’s share price rising around 14% since the beginning of 2016. In addition to this, Gateley has completed two acquisitions this year in Gateley Capitus and Gateley Hamer.
The awards will take place on Thursday 10 November at Grange St Paul’s Hotel where the finalists will be announced. The judges include Virgin Money boss Jayne-Anne Gadhia and renowned entrepreneur Luke Johnson.
This is the fourth award that Gateley has been nominated for in recent weeks. In addition to the City A.M. award nomination, Gateley is shortlisted for Asset Finance Legal Provider of the Year at the Leading Life Awards, Asset Finance Legal Team of the Year at the Leasing World Awards and Best Law Firm in the Car Finance Awards.
