We have advised private equity firm MonacoSol on its investment in cloud hosting specialist virtualDCS.

The transaction represents MonacoSol taking a majority stake in virtualDCS, a cloud hosting, disaster recovery and cyber resilience technology company headquartered in Leeds. Following the deal, virtualDCS’s co-founders will remain with the business and move to a new headquarters in Leeds city centre in order to accommodate its growing team and implement its expansion plans.

Founded in 2008, virtualDCS works directly with customers and a variety of IT channel partners to deliver cloud services to a range of sectors including retail, local government, hospitality and healthcare. MonacoSol is a private equity firm based in Manchester, which focuses on making investments in B2B software and technology businesses to support them in their growth strategy.

Our team was led by corporate partner Rebecca Grisewood, supported by partner Nigel Brown and solicitor Rehan Ahsan. The team was also supported by employment senior associate Navjhot Atwal, banking partner Christopher Lister, IP, commercial & technology legal director Tom Hughes and real estate senior associate Jonathan Burton-Baddeley.

Rebecca and the team at Gateley have provided invaluable support and advice to us during this transaction. Gateley is a trusted partner for the MonacoSol team that has supported us many times over the years, and we look forward to working with them on more acquisitions in the future.
Ollie Beaton, Chief executive, MonacoSol

Rebecca Grisewood added: “We are proud to have advised MonacoSol on its acquisition of a majority stake in virtualDCS. It’s great to see the positive impact of a regional private equity investment in a technology business based in the North and reflects our position as a legal advisor committed to fostering regional business growth. Congratulations to all involved in the transaction.”
