We advised Maven Capital Partners (Maven) and SWIF Maven Equity Finance, part of the South West Investment Fund (SWIF), provided by the British Business Bank, on a significant investment in Covestus, the owner and operator of brands in the consumer healthcare and pharmaceutical products space.

The investment by both Maven and SWIF Maven Equity Finance will support Covestus’ long-term buy-and-build growth strategy and has enabled the acquisition of Probio7, a probiotic food supplement brand with over 30 years of history as one of the UK’s leading and most trusted probiotic brands for supporting optimal gut health.

Launched by the British Business Bank in 2023, the £200m South West Investment Fund is committed to increasing the supply and diversity of early-stage investment funding for SME businesses across the South West.

Jonathan Oliver, Investment Director at Maven, said: “Covestus’ focus on smaller health and wellness brands where value can be added through active portfolio management sets it apart from many of its larger peers and Maven believes the new capital will help to accelerate growth initiatives and support Covestus in building a high-quality portfolio of growing consumer health and pharma assets.”

Zum Mohammed, corporate partner at Gateley Legal led the team, supported by Enes Ilgun and Olivia Isbister.

Zum commented: “We are pleased to have advised Maven on another strategic investment. Partnering with one of the UK’s most active investors in growing businesses will ensure that Covestus have access to both the capital they need to continue to grow and the right strategic support for creating scale, resilience and unlocking growth opportunities through their highly successful buy and build strategy.”
