We have advised M Group, the UK’s largest provider of essential infrastructure solutions, on its acquisition of home energy efficiency specialist business, Aran Group (Aran), from its shareholders.
Aran is a contractor and provider of managed retrofit programmes. It was formed in 2004 and is a leading energy efficiency company which has provided energy efficiency improvements and advice to thousands of homeowners, residents and building owners on a nationwide basis. M Group is owned by CVC, one of the world’s leading private equity firms, and employs more than 11,000 people operating from more than 200 locations nationwide across five key divisions.
The transaction plays an important role in M Group’s strategy to grow through acquisitions as part of its buy-and-build strategy. Aran’s acquisition is a key part of the group’s strategy to deepen its presence in the home decarbonisation market, expanding the sector presence of AgilityEco, as part of M Group Energy.
AgilityEco was acquired by M Group in 2024 and delivers energy efficiency services to support vulnerable households. Together, AgilityEco and Aran plan to scale up operations to support 28,000 homes in 2026 and work towards the group’s strategy to expand its presence in the home decarbonisation sector.
